Spindler completed her BA(FA) (2004) and MFA (2011) with distinction at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, where she also lectured in drawing and printmaking. She considers teaching as an important part of her practice and has taught at secondary and tertiary levels since 2005. Katherine currently lectures in painting and drawing at Cape Town Creative Academy.

She is represented by Barnard Gallery.
